Two wheel tractor power cultivators are either self-propelled or drawn as an attachment behind it. Cultivators are used to stir and pulverize the soil. It is used before planting to prepare smooth and aerate the soil and make loose seedbed or raised bed. Power cultivators can be also used after the crop has begun growing like- to kill weeds, controlled disturbance of the topsoil, kills the nearby weeds by uprooting them, burying their leaves to stop their growth.
Cultivators with toothed type tynes are often similar in form to chisel plows, but these both work in different way. Cultivator teeth work near the surface, usually for weed control, but as compare to chisel plow the shanks work deep beneath the surface, breaking up hard pan. The most important thing is the cultivating takes much less power per shank than does chisel plowing.
